A Year

It seems like people always talk about how much can happen in a short period of time.
Just a little over a year ago it seemed like I had my life planned out for the next ten years. I had a clear image as to where i was going and what i was gonna do, but life has a funny way of changing things up.

All it took was a year

Learning to focus on yourself and doing things solemnly for you and no one else is something I’ve really learned to value over this year. I’ve not only experienced negative things, but have also gone through positive things that i now will cherish forever.

Just a year ago I was so focused on living my life to please my peers and did not take my own happiness into consideration. It was something where I became so accustomed to, that I didn’t think twice to step back and realize i was not happy with a lot of things going on in my life at the time.

I think something a lot of us often get caught up in is the idea that we have no control of our own happiness.

I think something that really helped me understand it  was giving myself a distraction away from home and taking time to think about what I really wanted.

In the end, regardless of how much you care about the people around you, your happiness should be your main focus.
