The Funny Thing About Love

Whether you’re a romantic or a bit introverted with your emotions, chances are we have all felt a sense of strong connection towards someone. Relationships are beautiful yet tragic. The way you fall is an indescribable way, and something you can honestly only understand through experience. With that being said falling out of love is one of the hardest things that come with experiencing anything in life.

So the question is, how is it possible that something so beautiful can turn into an avoidable disaster?

Here’s the thing, being in love is great, but it also requires so much more than repetitive words. Through generations we have been presented with how the perspective on the topic of love has changed and outgrown from the past. But honestly, I believe love involves so much more positive than negitive. Relationships allow you to see two sides to the same story, it allows you to open up to new things, and it presents you with decisions you never imagined would be in front of you.

One of the best relationships involves one that evolves from a friendship. Although some may argue my point, I can honestly say that this is true. Friendships involve relationships between two people who can be themselves and aren’t afraid to do so. When you fall in love with your best friend, you collide two worlds into one. You don’t have to worry about learning the useless facts about a person because you already know them, instead you focus on meeting a different side to them and fall even more in love with them.

Throughout the relationship you learn a lot of things. You learn things about someone besides your self, but you learn a lot about who you are and what you don’t like. You become so accustomed to their needs and often forget about your part in the relationship. This is 99% of the reason I believe divorce rate is so high. The secret to keeping a strong relationship is right in front of our faces more than half of the time, the problem is we choose to ignore it. We choose to settle. In order to have a great relationship with someone else, you must have a great relationship with yourself. You must listen and be there for you. When the time comes where you are no longer doing something that makes you happy, you must take realization and be willing to change that for the better. This is where the hardest part is. You create excuses and begin blaming everything around you. If I could give myself as well as another person a tip it would be that you can’t be afraid of change and must be willing to grow as a person and take this hardship as a lesson.

Although this moment might feel like the end of the world, this is only a second of thousands of hours you have to live. It will hurt for as long as it has to, but always remember that beauty comes with pain and that one day you’ll look back and smile at the moments you shared with that person but also laugh at how silly you were for being upset about closure.
